AFM or active fuel management is a GM/Chevy technology meant to improve gas mileage. Since no air can get in or out, four cylinders provide no power. I recently bought a 2018 Silverado 5.3L with AFM. Id try the disabler and the screen cleaning first and do the AFM delete if that doesnt solve the problem. I havent has any lifter or cam issues. AFM Sucks!!! It had the AFM wiring & lifter cover installed with solenoid pack in the original engine, we even removed it to inspect. No it runs fine on sylinder one but not on 6 or 7!!! As the problem gets worse, youll hear a lifter tick and eventually you may see clearance between the pushrod and the rocker which will quickly destroy the cam.
